Mark Erdheim's tape of this excellent show is best IMHO.
Not so much audience noise.

in the Bay Area, too many CHATTERING IDIOTS. I was there, and it was a problem live, just as it is on this tape.
Was especially disappointed that folks chattered through Box of Rain, in which a rare opportunity to here Phil sing the song with the original lead guitarist from the studio version (David Nelson did the lead on American Beauty; Garcia must have played acoustic on that cut), was lost on a large portion of the audience.
This recording does bring back great memories of a great show, but the chatter makes it a rough listen for me.

This is the better of two recordings, IMHO. I was at this show, and it was the most fun P&F show I've been to. Phil was all smiles, and David Nelson fit in so well, adding a classic country sound and bringing back memories of the old New Riders music. And what a classy joint, way too classy for Deadheads! A perfect warmup for Vegas. I don't think they were prepared for the amount of smoke Deadheads generate, however.
